Out of school childcare can help you balance your work and family commitments; you can get to work on time without having to rush; gives you piece of mind when you are caught in traffic on the way home; you can work longer in the evening knowing that your children are looked after; your children can enjoy speding time with other children in a safe and secure environment.
There are lots of art and craft activities as well as books, games, outdoor activities, special themes and much more. We provide quality care in a warm and welcoming environment. An opportunity for exercise and outdoor play. Friendly, qualified and approachable staff work hard with your children to ensure that their time in after-school club is as enjoyable as possible.
Boy’s Football Club
Football training takes place every Tuesday, straight after school, and is open to pupil’s from Year 3 upwards. This year Mr. Rust is in charge of the weekly coaching duties. The team takes part in The Dukeries league (coming runners up last season), Knockout Cup and numerous small competitions and festivals. Our team colours are white and navy blue.
Breakfast Club
What a great start to the morning! If you need to get to work early, or if your child loves being in school early to mix with their friends! Bring them along for a filling breakfast and fun in the morning. A great range of breakfast food – hot or cold. A great time is had by all!
Busy Bodies
Busy Bodies is for children in Classes Palmer and Bingham/Downes and runs during the Autumn Term. It is all about keeping fit and having fun! The children enjoy cheer leading, gymnastics, dance and games. This has proved to be a very popular club.
Choir
Choir practice takes places every Wednesday in school, where the children rehearse from 3.15-4.15. We sing a range of songs from the classics of the 60’s and 70’s up to the modern day pop songs. The most important thing is that the children come along and enjoy singing! We also have a number of concerts throughout the year both in school and out in the local community. We are currently preparing for our Christmas program which involves singing at a local supermarket, residential care homes for the elderly as well as singing in Retford Town Hall.
French Club
French Club is for the three eldest classes. Children who attend after school once a week for half a term, learn to speak ‘useful’ French that they might need in a café or at a railway station. They enjoy picture book stories in French and do some simple cooking of French dishes. The last lesson is a favourite with a spread of croissant, pain chocolat, brioche and French bread with cheese.
Girls’ Football Club
Mrs. Cooper runs the club and we meet every Thursday for training (3:15 – 4:15pm). We had the best season ever last year winning the Dukeries League and the Dukeries Knock-Out Cup. Our focus is to improve skills and have lots of fun!
Indoor Games Club
Indoor Games Club runs in the winter months when we cannot play games outside. Children bring their own board games and card games from home to supplement those supplied at school, and enjoy sharing with their friends and the teachers.
Netball
Netball Club is in the Spring/Summer Term (depends on league matches, which are yet to be agreed) and is for boys and girls in Years 3-6. We play ‘High 5’ and have been part of the Retford League in the past 4 years. In recent years the Netball team has been very successful, coming runners up in the A and B league.
School Council
School Council is made up of 12 elected children from throughout the school. These pupils meet on a weekly basis to discuss issues that arise from their classes and from around the school. Walesby School Council have helped to make a big difference including arranging fund raising days, arranging more play equipment for the school, sorting out day to day school issues as well as helping us to plan for a better future! We hope to continue to make a positive difference to the school for all who attend.
